Business Analyst Specialist (Capital Markets)

Location: Sydney, New South Wales, Australia; hybrid work with at least 2 days per week in the office.

What you will do

• Analyze data conversion pipelines to identify discrepancies, gaps, and mapping errors between raw exchange feeds and internal schemas.
• Write and maintain functional specifications, data requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria for data solution implementations across asset classes.
• Manage the full requirements lifecycle from intake and analysis through documentation, development handoff, QA validation, and release.
• Investigate production issues and enhancement requests, defining resolution paths with development and QA teams.
• Partner with engineering teams to interpret system logic and configurations and ensure complete requirements.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of experience in data analysis, business analysis, or product analysis within capital markets, financial technology, or regulated trading environments.
• Hands-on knowledge of market data structures, trading protocols, order lifecycle workflows, and exchange connectivity.
• Ability to understand technical implementations, including data pipelines and system logic.
• Experience producing functional documentation such as data flows, specifications, and process maps.
• Full working rights in Australia are required; applicants must be Australian citizens or permanent residents.

Nice to have

• Experience with Jira and Confluence.
• Previous experience in trade surveillance or compliance.
• Familiarity with SQL, data querying, or structured financial data formats.
