Investment and Business Engagement Manager

What you will do

• Monitor Indonesia–Australia trade, investment, and private-sector developments and produce market, sector, and value-chain analysis.
• Identify, assess, and develop commercially viable partnerships involving Indonesian SMEs, Australian businesses, investors, and market actors.
• Manage strategic partnerships from design through implementation and scaling, including performance, budgets, milestones, risks, and learning.
• Build relationships with businesses, investors, industry associations, chambers of commerce, government agencies, and ecosystem stakeholders.
• Lead and develop a team of Investment and Business Engagement Officers while ensuring quality and timely delivery.
• Coordinate with technical, MEL, GEDSI, communications, and operations teams and ensure compliance with DFAT and hirify.global requirements.

Requirements

• Postgraduate qualification in business, economics, finance, international development, international trade, investment, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
• At least 8 years of experience in private-sector development, investment facilitation, trade promotion, partnership development, business advisory, or donor-funded economic development programs.
• Experience originating and managing private-sector partnerships, conducting market assessments, sector analysis, due diligence, and business opportunity assessments.
• Leadership experience supervising and developing professional staff.
• Strong understanding of inclusive business models, SME growth, private-sector development, stakeholder engagement, negotiation, and relationship management.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English and Indonesian are required.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of Indonesia–Australia trade and investment relations and IA-CEPA implementation.
• Experience supporting business innovation, investment mobilization, and pathways to scale.
• Familiarity with GEDSI, climate-smart development, and responsible business approaches.
