Lead SDET (AI)

Location: Remote within hirify.global’s states of operation in the United States: AL, AR, AZ, CA, CO, CT, DC, FL, GA, IL, KS, KY, MA, MD, ME, MI, MN, MO, NC, NH, NJ, NV, NY, OH, OR, PA, SC, TN, TX, UT, VA, WA, WI. Flexible remote and onsite work is supported, with an in-person headquarters in Palo Alto, California.

Annual base salary: $148,200–$163,800 for Tier 3, $158,650–$175,350 for Tier 2, or $181,450–$200,550 for Tier 1, depending on location and experience.

What you will do

• Design, build, and evolve scalable automation frameworks for UI, API, backend services, and end-to-end testing.
• Drive API, integration, component, contract, risk-based, performance, and observability testing practices.
• Build reusable automation libraries, tooling, and workflows that improve developer productivity and test reliability.
• Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines and improve execution speed, stability, and coverage.
• Define and analyze quality metrics, automation health, defect trends, and production issues.
• Lead cross-team quality initiatives, mentor Quality Engineers and SDETs, and collaborate with Engineering, Product, and Design.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in Software Quality Engineering with extensive hands-on test automation experience.
• Expert proficiency in JavaScript and TypeScript.
• Deep expertise with Playwright, Selenium, or Cypress across UI, API, and backend testing.
• Strong understanding of software architecture, distributed systems, CI/CD pipelines, cloud environments, and modern development practices.
• Strong SQL and relational database skills, with excellent analytical, debugging, and problem-solving abilities.
• Must reside in one of hirify.global’s listed states of operation in the United States.

Nice to have

• Experience with Python or Ruby/Rails.
• Experience with AI/LLM-powered testing tools or testing AI-enabled applications.
• Experience building internal developer platforms or engineering productivity tools.
• Contributions to open-source testing tools, technical blogs, or conference presentations.
• Experience in high-growth SaaS or fintech environments.
