Location: Remote, but must be based in or willing to relocate to Washington D.C., Maryland, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, or Massachusetts, with reasonable access to a major commercial airport. The role includes field deployment during severe weather and major weather-related events, frequent travel of up to 50%, short-notice assignments, and extended field hours.

What you will do
- Produce digital-first short-form and long-form video content for social, mobile, digital, and network platforms.
- Pitch and develop original weather and news stories aligned with daily digital priorities.
- Shoot, write, and edit content independently using Adobe Premiere.
- Work as a solo field reporter during severe weather and breaking news, capturing b-roll, conducting interviews, and delivering live or recorded reports.
- Deploy quickly to weather events, capture real-time visuals and human-impact stories, and deliver content under tight deadlines.
- Adapt content for vertical, square, and horizontal formats while collaborating with producers, editors, and the digital team.
Requirements
- 3–5+ years of experience as a multimedia journalist, video producer, or digital content creator.
- BA or BS from an accredited university; journalism, communications, and/or meteorology preferred.
- Portfolio showing on-camera reporting, self-shot and self-edited video, storytelling, and field coverage.
- Advanced proficiency in Adobe Premiere and the ability to shoot and edit video independently in the field.
- Ability to work independently under pressure, meet fast turnaround deadlines, and appear on camera for live or recorded reports.
- Willingness to travel frequently, deploy quickly, work extended hours in changing field conditions, and hold a valid driver’s license.
Nice to have
- Experience covering severe weather or breaking news.
- Familiarity with meteorology or a strong interest in weather storytelling.
- Experience with live reporting and live-streaming tools.
- FAA Part 107 drone certification or willingness to obtain it.
