Senior Consultant - Capital Markets Post-Trade Operations

Salary: CAD 80,000–95,000 yearly

What you will do

• Assess front-to-back institutional trade flows, identify data standardization issues, manual touchpoints, and settlement failures, and recommend opportunities to improve straight-through processing through automation.
• Evaluate front-, middle-, and back-office operating models and design current-state, future-state, and target operating model processes.
• Work with consulting and client technology teams to support automated solutions, including collaboration with AI and data science specialists.
• Interview stakeholders across front office, operations, technology, and compliance, then develop evidence-based recommendations and client presentations.
• Lead assessment workstreams covering stakeholder planning, interviews, data collection, and deliverable quality while coaching junior team members.
• Contribute to proposals, client presentations, and thought leadership focused on capital markets post-trade operations.

Requirements

• 3–5 years of relevant experience in management consulting, corporate and investment banking, capital markets, financial services, or related operations roles.
• Hands-on knowledge of the institutional trade lifecycle, including order management, trade capture, allocation, confirmation, affirmation, clearing, DVP settlement, reconciliation, and fail management.
• Understanding of broker-dealer operational, regulatory, and technology infrastructure across equities and fixed income.
• Experience with post-trade infrastructure such as DTCC, CTM, ALERT, NSCC, SWIFT messaging standards, and custodian settlement workflows.
• Strong analytical, communication, project management, and workstream management skills, including the ability to analyze trade data, exception reports, and anomalies.
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution; familiarity with JIRA, Confluence, Microsoft Office, and related collaboration tools.

Nice to have

• Awareness of continuous 24x5 markets, settlement acceleration, ISO 20022 migration, tokenization, and AI-driven post-trade automation.
• Experience with regulatory, risk, strategy, technology, or operational change initiatives within corporate and investment banking or capital markets.
