Clinical Genomic Scientist - WGS

What you will do

• Review test requisition forms and clinical notes for whole genome sequencing cases.
• Perform case analysis in the Emedgene platform and assess gene-disease correlations, molecular mechanisms, and inheritance.
• Identify and select variants relevant to each proband’s phenotype.
• Request confirmatory testing when necessary and communicate findings during cross-team huddles.
• Participate in optional cross-training for WGS variant curation and clinical indication/HPO work.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in Genetic Counseling, an MD, or a PhD in clinical medicine, genetics, molecular biology, or an equivalent field.
• Understanding of clinical medicine, genetics, genomics, molecular biology, genomic variation, and its relationship to human disease.
• Familiarity with American College of Medical Genetics variant curation guidelines.
• Experience with independent variant interpretation, complex case review, phenotype correlation, and multi-gene panel or exome interpretation.
• Ability to communicate genetic details effectively and collaborate across clinical teams.
• Experience expectations vary by rank: 1 year for WGS review I, 2 years for II, 5 years for III, 7 years for Senior, and 10 years for Professional.

Nice to have

• Advanced literature review and evidence assessment experience.
• Knowledge of SOPs, CAP, and CLIA standards.
• Experience with discrepancy resolution, consensus review, workflow improvement, project leadership, or coworker training.
