Senior Software Engineering Team Manager - R&D (AI)

Location: On-site in San Francisco, CA; Southlake, TX; or Austin, TX

Salary: USD $219,000–$255,000 per year, plus eligibility for bonus or incentive opportunities.

What you will do

• Shape the vision and strategy for an R&D portfolio aligned with enterprise priorities.
• Lead, coach, hire, and develop a high-performing engineering team.
• Champion discovery, prototyping, and rapid experimentation while measuring value, risk, and feasibility.
• Partner with Technology, Product, business, Risk, Legal/Compliance, and Security stakeholders to define opportunities, problem statements, and success metrics.
• Guide technical direction and architecture for prototypes and proof-of-concepts involving generative AI, digital assets, and emerging platforms.
• Communicate technical concepts and experimentation outcomes to executive and non-technical stakeholders through narratives, demos, and recommendations.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, or a related technical field.
• 8+ years of experience in software engineering or applied research, including leadership of prototypes, platforms, or complex technology initiatives.
• 3+ years of people leadership experience, including hiring, developing, and retaining diverse, high-performing teams.
• Strong foundation in modern architectures, cloud-native development, and engineering best practices.
• Experience framing hypotheses, designing experiments, and translating findings into actionable recommendations.
• Excellent communication and cross-functional influence skills.
