Real-time Market Operations Specialist (Energy Markets)

Location: San Jose, California, United States; hybrid workplace

Salary: $60,000–$75,000 annually in California

What you will do

• Support 24/7 real-time wholesale power market operations across ERCOT, CAISO, MISO, SPP, PJM, NYISO, and ISO-NE.
• Manage client resources, including dispatch, outages, 24/7 agent services, and day-ahead or real-time scheduling.
• Provide helpdesk support for MarketSuite, APX systems and infrastructure, and market-related questions.
• Monitor NERC E-Tags and client portfolios, ensuring valid submissions before market deadlines.
• Escalate system emergencies, assist with internal testing, and report software or operational issues.
• Maintain operational documentation and prepare daily reports on market and client activity.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree, preferably in business or a technical field.
• Excellent verbal and written communication, analytical ability, attention to detail, and customer service skills.
• Ability to manage changing priorities, strict deadlines, and sensitive operational situations calmly.
• Availability for rotating shifts, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Technical proficiency with Microsoft operating systems, Microsoft Office, and SharePoint.
• Basic SQL knowledge.

Nice to have

• PJM operations certification or experience.
• Knowledge of ISO systems for outage reporting, scheduling, and dispatch.
• Working knowledge of SCADA systems or prior control center experience.
• Experience testing software or reporting software issues.
