CNC Technician (Optical Machining)

Location: Wilton, Connecticut, United States; onsite work on a fixed back-end day shift from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and alternating Wednesday

What you will do

• Set up and operate specialized 3- and 5-axis CNC optical machining centers.
• Assemble cutting tools, install tool holders, manage tool changes and offsets, and compensate for tool wear.
• Program CNC controllers manually and load CAM-generated programs; generate part programs using Mastercam.
• Read ISO blueprints, measure workpieces, and verify conformance to specifications.
• Document production activities, irregularities, and continuing needs across shifts.
• Identify bottlenecks, support cross-functional groups, and improve manufacturing quality, efficiency, and standardization.

Requirements

• At least 6 months of experience working with CNC machines and equipment used in optical fabrication.
• High school diploma, trade school graduation, or GED required; an associate degree in machining is preferred.
• Intermediate mathematics, including geometry and trigonometry, plus intermediate computer skills and familiarity with Windows 10, Microsoft Office, and SAP.
• Experience using micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, and height gauges.
• Ability to follow written English work instructions, communicate clearly, prioritize work, and manage changing priorities.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship now or in the future and legally authorized to access controlled technology.

Nice to have

• Previous manufacturing experience or vocational certification.
• Experience with DMG, Hurco, or Siemens controls.
• Associate degree in machining from a vocational trade program.
