Manufacturing Unit Manager (Manufacturing)

Location: Abbeville, South Carolina, United States. Full-time, onsite role requiring work in production areas, including holiday and weekend emergency coverage as needed.

What you will do

• Develop and implement plans to execute daily production schedules and hold the organization accountable for production goals, quality, and operational standards.
• Lead, coach, mentor, hire, train, and develop four frontline supervisors and their production teams.
• Lead tier communication, standard work execution, daily management activities, and operational excellence initiatives.
• Develop departmental strategies, capital improvement initiatives, and cross-functional operational improvement plans.
• Use SAP, plant capacity models, and performance data to determine staffing and work schedules, track metrics, prepare reports, and solve problems.
• Lead continuous improvement, safety, quality, industrial relations, plant communication, and shop-floor capability initiatives.

Requirements

• Associate's degree or higher in a technical, engineering, industrial, manufacturing, or related field is required.
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Industrial Technology, Manufacturing, or a related field.
• Lean Manufacturing training.
• At least 3 years of leadership or management experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience leading frontline leaders, supervisors, or production teams.
• Demonstrated Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement project experience.
• Strong people leadership, coaching, accountability, communication, administrative, time-management, and multitasking skills.
• Ability to remain calm and professional in stressful circumstances and work as a hands-on manager with extensive floor interaction.
• Ability to motivate, hire, train, hold accountable, and support a diverse workforce.
• Ability to work a variety of schedules, including holiday and weekend emergency coverage; safety shoes and glasses are required in production areas, and hearing protection is required in posted areas.

Nice to have

• Lean Certification.
• Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt.
• Capital project or project management experience.
