Platform Database Engineer (NoSQL / Graph Databases)

Location: Remote, with significant overlap to business hours in Germany (CET/CEST); office address in Wildpoldsried, Germany.

What you will do

• Design, implement, and operate NoSQL and graph database solutions for the central platform.
• Own graph data models and query patterns for complex, highly connected domains.
• Plan and execute migrations from relational or file-based storage to NoSQL and graph databases.
• Integrate database solutions with existing and new backend services in collaboration with backend teams.
• Evaluate database technologies and contribute to platform architecture, technical standards, and best practices.
• Ensure performance, scalability, reliability, and maintainability in production while supporting product teams.

Requirements

• Strong hands-on experience with NoSQL or graph databases such as Neo4j, Amazon Neptune, MongoDB, or comparable technologies.
• Solid understanding of graph and non-relational data modeling.
• Experience planning and executing database migration projects.
• Good understanding of backend software architectures and data access patterns.
• Hands-on experience operating databases in cloud environments, preferably AWS.
• Fluent English is required; significant overlap with German business hours is required.

Nice to have

• Experience with relational databases and hybrid data architectures.
• Knowledge of performance tuning and optimization for graph workloads.
• Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD pipelines, DevOps, observability, and monitoring.
• Exposure to backend technologies such as Node.js or .NET and related programming languages.
• German language skills.
