Senior Engineering Manager (Promotions)

Location: Remote in Canada

Salary: 185,000–235,000 CAD per year

What you will do

• Manage the day-to-day activities of one or more software development teams, including goal setting, mentorship, coaching, performance management, and feedback.
• Partner with the Product Manager to define the roadmap, clarify requirements, and ensure execution.
• Lead development of promotional capabilities, third-party integrations, promotion and game launch tools, and configuration tools for marketing and operations stakeholders.
• Maintain development documentation, record key decisions, and ensure adherence to the development lifecycle and engineering processes.
• Establish KPIs and SLAs while monitoring team and system performance.
• Improve development processes and system architecture while meeting performance, scalability, and reliability goals.

Requirements

• At least 10 years of software development experience and 5 years in leadership or management roles.
• Experience leading teams of 10 or more engineers.
• Strong time management, project management, problem-solving, communication, presentation, and stakeholder collaboration skills.
• Ability to manage overlapping projects, meet strict deadlines, and communicate complex technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
• Passion for clean code architecture and software craftsmanship, with strong critical and logical thinking.
• Experience with Kafka, distributed systems, real-time stream processing, Docker, and Kubernetes.

Nice to have

• PHP, Next.js, Python, AWS/Lambda, Elixir, GraphQL APIs with Absinthe, GraphQL schema stitching and subscriptions, GCP, public speaking, or open-source contributions.
