Senior Software Engineer (Go) (US Payments)

Location: Remote in Canada, Ontario only; the first day is in the office to collect remote-work equipment.

What you will do

• Design and implement US payments gateway functionality in Go for Zelle and Fedwire.
• Build payment flows, scheme-specific behaviours, validation, error handling, and automated integration tests.
• Collaborate with Product, Engineering, and other functions to refine requirements and validate technical decisions.
• Contribute to technical designs, implementation plans, resilience, performance, disaster recovery, and failure-mode testing.
• Improve monitoring, alerting, telemetry, and observability from development through production.
• Prepare releases, support deployments, resolve post-launch issues, and maintain technical documentation and operational runbooks.

Requirements

• Experience with Go and designing and building distributed systems.
• Experience or familiarity with cloud and containerisation technologies, test automation, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Ability to work on high-performance, robust, and critical software systems.
• Interest in owning projects end-to-end and supporting production operations.
• Strong communication, collaboration, clean-code, and software engineering practices.
• Contractors must be based in Ontario, Canada.

Nice to have

• Experience with AWS, GCP, Azure, Kubernetes, CockroachDB, NATS JetStream, Elasticsearch, Vault, Cilium, Terraform, Flux, Prometheus, Pact.io, or Tilt.
• Experience with CQRS, TDD/BDD, pair programming, and SecDevOps.
• Java experience.
