SQL Database Developer (SQL Server)

Salary: USD $53.85–$69.23 per hour, plus bonus or incentive opportunities.

What you will do

• Build scalable database platforms supporting workplace applications and millions of retirement plan participants.
• Develop and maintain SQL Server solutions, including complex stored procedures, functions, views, and triggers.
• Modernize APIs, foundational systems, and legacy database components while addressing performance, compliance, and remediation risks.
• Improve platform stability, performance, resilience, and scalability through query tuning, indexing, and execution plan analysis.
• Support ETL/ELT processes, bulk data loads, batch processing, and migration performance optimization.
• Collaborate with application developers, architects, DBAs, and data engineering teams while mentoring teammates and contributing to code reviews.

Requirements

• 6+ years of hands-on experience as a SQL Server Database Developer in enterprise-scale environments.
• Expert-level T-SQL and SQL Server development skills, including database internals, transactions, isolation levels, locking, concurrency, and error handling.
• Strong experience with logical and physical data modeling, relational database design, normalization, schema optimization, and performance troubleshooting.
• Experience refactoring legacy database code, database deployment, version control, code review, and Agile Scrum delivery.
• Familiarity with C#/.NET Core and AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot and custom MCP servers.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent, with strong technical and business communication skills.
