Staff Software Engineer (Python/Go)

Location: Dublin, Ireland. This is a full-time position based in Ireland.

What you will do

• Design, build, and maintain scalable full-stack applications and stable services for the dbt Cloud platform.
• Redesign external APIs, core data models, and platform entities to improve administrator and end-user experiences.
• Lead architecture discussions and deliver secure, maintainable, performant, and highly available services.
• Collaborate with Product, Design, Operations, Security, and QA on complex, cross-functional initiatives.
• Define best practices for testing, observability, and system reliability.
• Mentor engineers and influence technical direction across teams and domains.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience developing SaaS platforms and applications at scale.
• Proven experience designing and scaling full-stack applications.
• Proficiency with backend languages and frameworks such as Python, Go, Rust, Django, Node, Java, or Spring.
• Strong understanding of API design, system architecture, and database management.
• Experience leading complex projects, collaborating across functions, and influencing technical direction.
• Familiarity with cloud infrastructure such as AWS, GCP, Azure, Kubernetes, or Terraform.

Nice to have

• Experience with React and TypeScript.
• Background in data engineering tools or data processing pipelines.
• Experience with performance optimization and observability tools such as Datadog.
• Experience working on distributed, remote-first teams.
