Chief Engineer

Location: Washington, District of Columbia, USA; on-site commercial property operations with possible shift, on-call, or standby duties.

Salary: $52.61–$61.899 per hour

What you will do

• Lead engineers and maintenance staff, including hiring, training, coaching, performance management, and development.
• Plan, coordinate, and supervise mechanical operations, maintenance, communications, energy management, and manpower development programs.
• Oversee HVAC, plumbing, electrical, fire/life safety, and other building systems; inspect equipment and resolve operational issues.
• Develop preventive and predictive maintenance programs, safety procedures, technical manuals, and operations documentation.
• Manage operating accounts, utility consumption, budgets, inventory, service contracts, vendors, contractors, tenants, and clients.
• Respond to emergencies and customer concerns while performing approximately 50% operating engineer duties.

Requirements

• 7+ years of related experience in a commercial property setting or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Vocational or technical training certificate.
• Appropriate trade license or permit where required, such as a Journeyman or Master Electrician license or city license.
• Universal CFC technician qualification where required by local licensing rules.
• Knowledge of budgets, budget variances, Energy Management Systems, fire alarm systems, Outlook, Excel, and Word.
