Environmental Biologist/Ecologist, Senior

Location: Mississauga, Ontario, Canada. The position is based in hirify.global's Mississauga office, with travel to other offices, client offices, and occasional domestic and international field assignments.

Salary: CAD 115,000–165,000 per year, plus potential performance-based incentives and benefits.

What you will do

• Oversee environmental baseline programs, permitting strategies, and environmental impact assessments for major mining, infrastructure, transportation, and energy projects.
• Manage the full project lifecycle, including client relationships, multidisciplinary budgets, commercial risks, and project delivery.
• Coordinate environmental field surveys, logistics, schedules, and health and safety tracking for terrestrial and aquatic biology teams.
• Lead environmental permitting, compliance, PLAA, and project management activities as required.
• Provide senior technical review of biological and ecological baseline reports, environmental impact statements, and natural heritage assessments.
• Lead technical and commercial proposals, support business development, and mentor junior staff.

Requirements

• 10+ years of progressive environmental consulting experience in Canada; prior consulting experience is mandatory.
• Bachelor's degree in Biology, Ecology, Environmental Science, Natural Resource Management, or a related discipline.
• Deep knowledge of Ontario and federal environmental regulations, permitting requirements, ecosystems, and species at risk.
• Experience coordinating complex field programs and managing field logistics, safety, schedules, budgets, and contractual conditions.
• Strong technical writing, verbal communication, consensus-building, client relationship, and multidisciplinary leadership skills.
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel domestically and internationally as required.

Nice to have

• Master's degree in a related discipline.
• PMP, RPP, OPPI, or MCIP designation.
• Experience with federal Environmental Assessment or Impact Assessment processes under IAAC.
• RAQS certification or relevant experience and training in Class Environmental Assessment, Natural Sciences, or Fisheries Assessment.
• Experience working with Indigenous clients and developing long-term delivery partnerships.
