Salary: $28.29–$33.66 CAD per hour

What you will do
- Process and quality-control high-throughput sequencing data, including trimming, alignment, sorting, indexing, duplicate marking, and base quality score recalibration.
- Perform SNV calling and microbiome profiling using established bioinformatics pipelines.
- Benchmark variant-calling tools by comparing accuracy, performance, and computational efficiency.
- Use databases and statistical tools to filter SNVs and generate data-quality and tool-performance metrics.
- Conduct literature reviews, interpret results, and prepare statistical reports and publication-ready documentation.
- Help maintain reproducible Bash and Snakemake workflows and guide undergraduate students and junior lab members.
Requirements
- At least two years of related experience, additional training in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Foundational knowledge of genomics and bioinformatics, including SNV calling with Mutect2, Strelka, or LoFreq.
- Strong Bash scripting skills and experience with Snakemake or comparable workflow-management tools.
- Ability to critically read scientific literature and interpret computational performance metrics.
- Clear written and verbal communication, strong attention to detail, and the judgment to work independently.
