Legal Counsel – Germany (M/W/D) (Automotive)

What you will do

• Provide legal advice on operations in Germany, with a focus on German employment and labor law.
• Advise HR and management on employment agreements, policies, employee relations, terminations, and workplace matters.
• Support compliance with German laws and regulatory requirements and help develop and implement local legal, employment, and compliance policies and processes.
• Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements with customers, vendors, partners, and service providers.
• Provide practical legal advice to local and global stakeholders and work with HR, Finance, Procurement, and other business teams.
• Coordinate with external legal counsel in Germany when required.

Requirements

• German law degree and qualification to practice law in Germany, including Volljurist or Befähigung zum Richteramt.
• Approximately 8 years of relevant legal experience gained in-house and/or at a leading law firm.
• Strong knowledge and hands-on experience in German employment and labor law, including advising companies on employment-related matters and working with HR and management.
• Experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial agreements.
• Strong understanding of the German legal and regulatory environment.
• Strong business orientation and ability to assess legal risks and provide practical, pragmatic solutions.
• Ability to work independently, take ownership, and manage multiple priorities in an international environment.
• Excellent negotiation, communication, and stakeholder-management skills.
• Collaborative and team-oriented approach.
• Fluent German and English.
