2nd Shift Entry Level Machinist

Location: Onsite in Blacksburg, Virginia, United States; 2nd shift

Salary: $18.50–$20.00 per hour

What you will do

• Perform basic drill press, lathe, milling machine, and grinding operations.
• Care for and apply turning, plunge, and form tools.
• Operate manual and powered tapping machines, using metric and standard taps and dies.
• Use power hand tools, grinders, drills, sanders, and blasting equipment.
• Operate band saws and cutoff saws, including selecting speeds, feeds, tooth sizes, and replacing or welding blades.
• Complete required production paperwork and perform other assigned duties.

Requirements

• At least one year completed in an approved Machine Technology program, high school or vocational program, or equivalent experience.
• High school diploma or GED preferred, or the ability to understand and apply verbal, written, and computer-based instructions in English.
• Proficiency in general mathematics, including basic arithmetic.
• Knowledge of machine-shop gauges and machines.
• Ability to work onsite in Blacksburg, Virginia, on the 2nd shift.
• The position requires access to U.S. export-controlled information.
