Salary: 137,000 - 186,000 CAD per year

What you will do

• Lead the design and implementation of complex backend services in a cloud-native, microservices-based environment.
• Make architectural decisions that balance reliability, scalability, performance, and operability.
• Drive projects end-to-end, from requirements and design through implementation and production rollout.
• Improve service reliability by defining SLOs/SLAs and strengthening observability.
• Collaborate across teams to define APIs, integration points, and data models.
• Mentor other engineers through code reviews, design reviews, and technical guidance.

Requirements

• 7+ years of industry experience designing and building production backend systems.
• Proficiency in Python and other major languages such as Go, C/C++, or Java.
• Strong experience with public clouds (AWS, GCP, or Azure), Docker, and Kubernetes.
• Must have the ability to work in Canada without sponsorship.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• Experience with observability, metrics, logging, and incident response.

Nice to have

• Master's or PhD in Computer Science or a related field.
• Expertise in Language Runtimes or VMs such as JVM or WASM.
• Deep technical expertise in container sandboxing technologies.
• Prior experience handling critical systems on-call.
