Senior / Staff Electrical Engineer (Autonomous Vehicles)

What you will do

• Own the end-to-end electrical architecture of an autonomous tractor platform, including harnesses, power distribution, CAN bus topology, sensor wiring, grounding, and shielding.
• Create and maintain wiring diagrams and electrical schematics used for vehicle build, integration, and field servicing.
• Lead root cause analysis of electrical faults and system failures across the deployed fleet.
• Drive corrective actions, design improvements, updated build standards, and fleet retrofit plans based on field failure analysis.
• Own electrical bring-up and validation for new platforms and vehicle upfits, including acceptance criteria and verification checklists.
• Coordinate with hardware, software, autonomy, field teams, harness manufacturers, and integration partners on component qualification and production readiness.

Requirements

• 5+ years of electrical engineering experience in automotive, autonomous vehicles, robotics, aerospace, industrial equipment, or a similar hardware-centric domain.
• Deep expertise in vehicle electrical systems, including harness and connector design, power distribution, CAN and other vehicle networking protocols, grounding, and EMC practices.
• Experience creating and owning complex electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
• Strong electrical fault analysis and root cause investigation skills, including converting field failure data into design improvements.
• Experience designing reliable and serviceable systems for vibration, thermal cycling, moisture, and contamination.
• Ability to work independently, set technical direction, and drive cross-functional decisions throughout the product lifecycle.

Nice to have

• Experience with autonomous vehicle or mobile robot electrical systems, multi-sensor integration, and embedded computing hardware.
• Familiarity with high-voltage vehicle architectures and their safety and isolation requirements.
• Experience with harness fabrication vendors, contract manufacturers, and electrical assembly qualification.
• Experience defining electrical validation, verification, bring-up, and acceptance testing programs.
• Experience building electrical engineering infrastructure and design standards at an early-stage company.
