Salary: $236,000–$260,000 annual base compensation, plus equity and benefits

What you will do

• Own ambiguous, high-stakes algorithmic problems from problem framing through production deployment and iteration.
• Translate healthcare and business constraints into objectives, tradeoffs, decision frameworks, and evaluation metrics.
• Select and apply machine learning, optimization, heuristics, expert systems, or hybrid approaches based on the problem.
• Build provider tiering algorithms that balance geographic access with total-cost-of-care savings.
• Fine-tune and productionize an LLM-based primary care experience with evaluation, guardrails, and quality monitoring.
• Develop member engagement models using claims and in-app behavior to select effective communication channels and timing.

Requirements

• 4+ years of industry experience as an Applied Scientist, Machine Learning Engineer, Research Scientist, or equivalent; alternatively, 2+ years with a relevant advanced degree.
• PhD preferred.
• Strong applied problem-solving skills, including metric definition, solution validation, and outcome improvement.
• Technical fluency across data science methods and judgment in choosing statistical models, heuristics, optimization, and algorithmic approaches.
• Strong communication skills for explaining complex algorithmic ideas and securing cross-team stakeholder support.
• Experience with Python, SQL, AWS, Snowflake, pandas, XGBoost, PyTorch, HuggingFace, and modern LLM tooling and evaluation frameworks.
