TL;DR
Development Engineer - Internal Flow and Heat Transfer (m/f/d) (Wind Energy) (CFD/OpenFOAM): Developing thermal simulation toolchains, airflow and thermal management concepts, and parametric and surrogate models for wind turbine components with an accent on internal flow, heat transfer, and cooling concepts. Focus on validating simulations against measurement data, building models for generators and electrical cabinets, and leading cross-functional technology development projects.

Location: Aurich, Germany; hybrid work with up to 50% mobile working

What you will do

  • Further develop thermal simulation toolchains and perform CFD simulations for generators, e-nacelles, electrical cabinets, and other wind turbine components.
  • Validate simulation processes against measurement data.
  • Develop airflow management, thermal management, and cooling concepts.
  • Build parametric and surrogate models for wind turbine components and related systems.
  • Lead cross-functional, product-related technology development projects.

Requirements

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Process Engineering, Physics, or a comparable field, with at least 5 years of relevant experience, or a PhD.
  • Experience with internal-flow and heat-transfer CFD simulations using OpenFOAM.
  • Experience developing cooling concepts for e-nacelles, generators, electrical cabinets, and related components.
  • Programming skills in Python and experience with Git or SVN.
  • Technical project or work-package leadership experience in wind turbine component projects, technology development, methodology development, or tool development.
  • Strong technical problem-solving, communication, mentoring, and knowledge-sharing skills.
