Staff Software Engineer (AI)

Location: Remote within the United States; candidates within 50 miles of the headquarters in Overland Park, Kansas may participate in the in-office collaboration experience.

What you will do

• Lead the architecture, design, and development of major scalable, reliable, and maintainable systems and services.
• Translate business and client requirements into actionable technical work and collaborate with solution managers, engineers, data scientists, and other stakeholders.
• Resolve complex, high-priority issues across development and production environments while improving software quality and performance.
• Provide technical guidance, conduct code reviews, and mentor Software Engineers.
• Evaluate and implement technologies, methodologies, and AI capabilities to improve development efficiency and decision-making.
• Lead automated unit, integration, performance, and deployment testing; analyze metrics and maintain operational documentation.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience, with 8–12 years of related work experience.
• Experience designing and developing web applications with Python, Node.js, GraphQL, RESTful Web APIs, NoSQL, and modern JavaScript frameworks such as Angular or React.
• Experience with Git, cloud platforms such as Google Cloud Platform, CI/CD, deployment automation, infrastructure as code, debugging, and performance tuning.
• Familiarity with observability and APM tools such as New Relic or OpenTelemetry.
• Experience using AI tools, preferably Claude, and working with Agile Scrum and software development lifecycle processes.
• Applicants for this U.S.-based position must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

Nice to have

• Eight or more years of programming experience with Python and Django.
• Experience with GCP or AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, CloudFormation, or Elasticsearch.
• Experience in the healthcare industry.
