Automotive Mechanical Technician (Automotive)

Location: Paradise (St. John's), Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada; onsite automotive shop role with possible Saturday shifts

What you will do

• Diagnose and complete general mechanical repairs, including brake, exhaust, alignment, ball joint, air conditioning, and maintenance work.
• Perform oil and fluid changes, tire changes, vehicle checkovers, and general shop maintenance while following safety procedures.
• Inspect vehicle frames, undercarriages, bodywork, transmissions, differentials, and powertrains for damage and safety issues.
• Complete pre-sale, post-sale, and motor vehicle safety inspections, including test drives and required checklists.
• Pull vehicles into the shop, diagnose repair needs, source parts, prepare customer quotes, and update work orders with parts and labor entries.

Requirements

• Automotive Service Technician certification is required. Ontario 310S certification is specifically recognized.
• Experience repairing and servicing mechanical, electrical, and electronic vehicle systems and components.
• Valid driver's abstract.
• Basic computer skills and the ability to use a smartphone.
• Reliability, attention to detail, safe working practices, and the ability to prioritize work in a fast-paced environment.

Nice to have

• Registration as a third- or fourth-year apprentice.
• License to complete Motor Vehicle Inspections.
• Teamwork, strong communication, problem-solving skills, and a positive professional attitude.
