Head of Finance Risk (SOX and Controls): Leading finance risk, financial reporting controls, and the Group's SOX programme with an accent on control transformation, automation, and executive governance. Location: Hybrid role based in Edinburgh, Bristol, or Halifax, with at least two days per week or 40% of working time at an office site.

What you will do
- Lead the Finance business partnering agenda and advise Finance leadership on risk, controls, and strategic priorities.
- Direct delivery of the Sarbanes-Oxley programme, including risk identification, control effectiveness, remediation, and accountability for control owners.
- Drive transformation, automation, simplification, and standardisation of the Finance control environment.
- Promote data and AI-assisted testing to improve assurance coverage, quality, and efficiency.
- Provide strategic recommendations on SOX, risk, controls, and regulatory requirements.
- Lead Finance business partners, prepare governance reporting, and support senior leadership decision-making.
Requirements
- Qualified finance professional with 10+ years of post-qualification leadership experience in financial reporting.
- At least 5 years of experience leading Financial Reporting Risk, including SOX programmes in large organisations; banking experience is preferred.
- Extensive experience advising and challenging senior Finance leaders on risk and control performance.
- Experience leading a large Finance team and managing performance, development, and retention.
- Strong communication, influencing, strategic thinking, and relationship-building skills.
- Experience leading teams through system, process, or cultural change.
