Controller (SaaS)

Location: Hybrid position; must be able to work onsite at Verato HQ in McLean, Virginia, United States

What you will do

• Own monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes and deliver timely GAAP-compliant financial statements.
• Manage ASC 606 revenue recognition for subscription and SaaS contracts, including multi-element arrangements and deferred revenue.
• Oversee consolidation of international subsidiaries, intercompany eliminations, foreign-exchange translation, and statutory and tax compliance coordination.
• Maintain internal controls, segregation of duties, ERP integrity, billing systems, and customer subscription entitlement data.
• Lead external financial audits and support SOC 2 or HITRUST audits when applicable.
• Manage AP, AR, payroll, treasury, cash management, banking relationships, process improvements, and accounting team development.

Requirements

• CPA certification required.
• 8–12 years of progressive accounting experience, including public accounting.
• Experience with SaaS or subscription revenue recognition under ASC 606 and multi-entity, multi-currency consolidation.
• Experience managing and coaching an accounting team in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience with modern ERP platforms such as NetSuite, Sage, or Rillet.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail, and commitment to accurate financial reporting.

Nice to have

• At least two years of experience as a Controller or Assistant Controller.
• Big Four accounting firm experience.
• Experience with financial statement audits, SOC 2 Type II, or outsourced and international accounting functions.
• Experience in a private-equity- or venture-capital-backed SaaS company with $40–100M ARR.
• Experience with M&A due diligence, post-acquisition integration, Salesforce, and finance-system integrations.
