Principal Program Manager, Process Safety & Risk (Biotechnology)

Location: Based at the South San Francisco, California campus, United States. Relocation assistance is not available.

Salary: $138,500–$257,100 per year.

What you will do

• Develop, implement, and continuously improve process safety and EHS risk management programs.
• Drive a multi-year Process Safety and SHE Risk Management strategy aligned with site operations and pharmaceutical manufacturing goals.
• Lead process safety reviews, safety risk assessments, incident investigations, and root-cause analyses.
• Design engineering and administrative controls that reduce risks and support the goal of zero injuries and illnesses.
• Partner with manufacturing, engineering, production services, warehouse, quality, contractors, and service providers on site-wide safety initiatives.
• Manage budgets, schedules, change management, and communication of complex technical information to stakeholders.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in chemical, mechanical, civil, or electrical engineering.
• 8+ years of experience in SHE program management, process safety engineering, or risk management.
• Hands-on experience leading process safety reviews, safety risk assessments, incident investigations, and root-cause analysis.
• Knowledge of EHS regulations, codes, and standards, including Cal/OSHA, OSHA, EPA, NIOSH, Cal/ARP, and local CUPA requirements.
• Ability to lead and motivate cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment.
• Work on the South San Francisco, California campus is required; relocation assistance is unavailable.

Nice to have

• Registered Professional Engineer certification.
• Experience in biotechnology, pharmaceutical, or other high-hazard environments.
