Principal Software Engineer (Embedded Platform Software)

What you will do

• Design and develop platform-level and system-level software and firmware for networking platforms.
• Program network processors and switching ASIC devices for Juniper routing products.
• Contribute across requirements gathering, implementation, testing, debugging, and sustaining phases.
• Write functional, design, and unit test specifications.
• Develop complex embedded modules, troubleshoot defects, and resolve software issues.
• Collaborate with hardware, software, and systems engineering teams.

Requirements

• BS or MS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a similar field.
• 10+ years of embedded systems development and debugging experience.
• Strong C/C++, embedded systems, and device-driver development experience in Linux or Unix environments.
• Hands-on experience developing embedded software for network switches or routers.
• Experience with hardware bring-up, Ethernet interfaces, high-speed PHY/SERDES, or fabric management.
• Ability to work onsite from an HPE office.

Nice to have

• Understanding of hardware board design and layout.
• Experience with PCIe, I2C, FPGA, Ethernet MAC/PHY, and high-speed buses.
• Device drivers, interface management, chassis management, HA, ISSU, or virtualization experience.
• Experience with software, hardware, and memory debugging tools.
