TL;DR
Senior Network and Platform Software Engineer (Aerospace): Building foundational embedded Linux platform infrastructure for TeraWave satellite communications systems with an accent on kernel development, hardware integration, security, observability, and networking performance. Focus on designing operating-system services, optimizing scheduling and I/O for custom satellite hardware, and debugging reliable high-performance systems deployed across LEO satellites, terminals, and gateways.

Location: Cupertino, California; supporting TeraWave in the Greater Seattle Area. The role requires authorization to work in the United States.

Base pay: $248,830–$348,361.65 annually for California and Washington applicants; other site ranges may differ.

hirify.global develops reusable space vehicles and systems and is building TeraWave, a multi-orbit satellite communications network for high-performance connectivity worldwide.

What you will do

  • Design Linux platform infrastructure, including process management, initialization systems, and inter-process communication frameworks.
  • Develop kernel modules, device drivers, and kernel subsystem changes for custom embedded satellite hardware.
  • Bring up hardware prototypes with silicon, electrical, and RF engineering teams and optimize kernels for custom SoCs.
  • Debug system performance, reduce context switching, and tune networking for satellite links.
  • Implement secure boot, runtime security monitoring, and hardware-backed credential management.
  • Own the software lifecycle from architecture and development through deployment aboard LEO satellites.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, or a related STEM field, or 10+ years of software development experience.
  • At least 8 years of C or C++ experience in Linux or embedded environments.
  • Deep Linux kernel knowledge, including driver development, memory management, and system-level debugging.
  • Experience with GDB, perf, eBPF, and Buildroot, Yocto, Bazel, or comparable build systems.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident, or lawfully admitted refugee or asylee.

Nice to have

  • Infrastructure experience with large distributed systems or device fleets at scale.
  • Rust or Python for systems tooling and automation.
  • TCP/IP, UDP, Ethernet, Linux networking, and custom routing protocol expertise.
  • Experience with mission-critical aerospace, automotive, medical, or other high-reliability systems.
  • Ability to troubleshoot through assembly code and hardware-level diagnostics.
