Senior Platform Software Engineer (C/C++)

Location: Santa Clara, California, United States; remote and onsite work indicators are included in the posting.

Annual base salary: $180,000–$270,000 USD

What you will do

• Plan and influence the lifecycle of new hardware platforms from design and bring-up through deployment, upgrades, manufacturing release, and fleet-level reliability.
• Debug complex hardware and firmware issues across CPUs, chipsets, peripheral components, x86, PCIe, NVMe, and networking.
• Design and improve remote server management capabilities using standards such as Redfish and enhance reliability, availability, and serviceability features.
• Develop and maintain system software components in C, C++, Python, Go, and Rust.
• Collaborate with vendors on requirements and system delivery.
• Work with hardware engineers, system architects, and operating-system developers on specifications, design reviews, and hardware-software integration.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science, or equivalent practical experience.
• Strong C/C++ skills, including object-oriented design and C++11 or later, plus Python for build, test automation, and lab tooling.
• Hands-on experience with hardware-platform design feedback, bring-up, system-level debugging, customer delivery, and support.
• Experience with CPU architectures, BMC, BIOS, PCIe, I2C, SMBus, or PMBus.
• Solid Linux skills covering kernel logs, drivers, bootloaders, and root-cause analysis across hardware, firmware, and operating-system boundaries.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with an interest in CPU architecture and data-center hardware.

Nice to have

• Experience shipping or supporting enterprise-class x86 appliances.
• Experience with BMC firmware, OpenBMC, Redfish, or IPMI.
• Experience developing or debugging BIOS/UEFI.
• Experience with Go and Rust.
