Control System Engineer

Location: South Tyneside, United Kingdom

Salary: Up to £60,000 basic per year plus benefits

What you will do

• Design, develop, integrate, test, and commission control systems for LV switchgear, power distribution, power management, and energy monitoring applications.
• Develop PLC, HMI, and SCADA software and configure meters, relays, gateways, communication devices, and related control hardware.
• Produce I/O schedules, control philosophies, network layouts, and functional design documentation while interpreting electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
• Integrate systems using Modbus, Profinet, Profibus, Ethernet/IP, and BACnet protocols.
• Perform software testing, FAT, SAT, commissioning, troubleshooting, and fault finding across the project lifecycle.
• Support electrical design, production, testing, customers, and site teams, including customer-site commissioning when required.

Requirements

• HNC, HND, or degree in Electrical, Electronic, Control Systems, or Automation Engineering, or equivalent industry experience.
• Experience as a Controls Engineer, PLC Engineer, Automation Engineer, or in a similar role.
• Strong electrical knowledge, ideally in power distribution, switchgear, generators, or industrial control systems.
• Experience with Siemens, Rockwell, Schneider, Mitsubishi, or Codesys PLC platforms.
• Experience developing HMI and/or SCADA applications and familiarity with industrial communication protocols.
• Ability to read electrical schematics and wiring diagrams, troubleshoot issues, and manage technical documentation.
