Location: Europe-based role in Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Portugal, Spain or the United Kingdom; hybrid work with a minimum of two days per week in the office unless the role is explicitly stated otherwise.

What you will do

• Curate high-quality auctions by evaluating authenticity, age, attribution, condition, provenance, market relevance and buyer appeal.
• Research provenance, identify risks and apply authenticity, quality, compliance and responsible-trade standards.
• Develop relationships with dealers, galleries, collectors, professional sellers and collection owners across Europe and relevant international markets.
• Advise sellers on estimates, reserve prices, timing, presentation and object quality to improve auction performance.
• Use market insight and auction data to identify category growth opportunities, including buyer demand, supply quality, sell-through and average object value.
• Develop auction themes, seller initiatives and process improvements, and share specialist knowledge with colleagues across the Asian & Tribal Art team.

Requirements

• Demonstrable specialist expertise in Southeast Asian, Oceanic or Americas Art & Antiques, plus good knowledge of at least one additional area within the wider scope.
• Professional experience in an art, antiques, auction, gallery, dealer, collecting, curatorial or online marketplace environment, including the ability to assess authenticity, attribution, quality, condition and provenance.
• Strong research skills using specialist literature, archives, databases and auction records, with awareness of cultural-property, responsible-sourcing and provenance considerations.
• Strong understanding of the European art and antiques market and auction dynamics, including estimates, reserve prices, sell-through, buyer demand and supply quality.
• Commercial and proactive approach, with confidence developing relationships and identifying category-growth opportunities.
• Strong written and verbal English communication skills, attention to detail, sound judgement and confidence using digital platforms, data and research tools.
• Ability to work independently, take ownership, collaborate effectively and travel periodically.
