TL;DR
Engineer, Grid Operations Technology (Hybrid Schedule) - D (Grid Operations Technology): Supporting and modernizing electric distribution control systems through DMS implementation, configuration, and ongoing maintenance with an accent on ADMS, SCADA, DER dispatching, and distribution network optimization. Focus on configuring FLISR, LVM, AFR, and load-generation scheduling applications, developing engineering data tools, and coordinating grid modernization projects across multidisciplinary teams.

Location: Windsor, Connecticut, United States; hybrid schedule. Travel between Massachusetts, Connecticut, and New Hampshire may be required, including occasional to significant travel by car. Emergency restoration assignments may require work outside normal hours and locations.

Annual salary: $100,490–$111,660, plus potential incentive.

What you will do

  • Support electric system operators by optimizing distribution networks through DMS advanced functionality, including AFR, LVM, outage studies, and DER/load forecasting.
  • Provide subject-matter expertise in ADMS, SCADA, DER dispatching, energy storage, microgrids, Volt/Var Optimization, and load shedding.
  • Specify, configure, and enhance DMS applications such as FLISR, LVM, AFR, and load and generation scheduling.
  • Collaborate with system operations control centers, IT, engineering, field operations, and other stakeholders on DMS functionality and grid modernization programs.
  • Prepare project approval documentation covering scope, technical solutions, alternatives, risks, budget, and schedule.
  • Investigate industry technologies and develop tools and methods for organizing engineering data, models, and databases.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering; electrical engineering is preferred.
  • At least 3 years of related experience; engineering design experience is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of load flow, voltage regulation, power factor, losses, stability, and load and generation modeling.
  • Experience modeling electric distribution systems and manipulating large datasets for engineering analysis.
  • Knowledge of DMS, OMS, GIS, SCADA, EMS, and Synergi/Cyme, plus basic understanding of SCADA communication protocols such as DNP.
  • Immigration-related visa sponsorship is not available; applicants requiring sponsorship to start employment will not be considered. A valid driver’s license is required.
