Engineering Manager, Tax Platform

Location: Toronto, Canada; hybrid position

Salary: CAD 185,000–231,500 per year, plus potential equity grants

What you will do

• Own the vision, roadmap, and execution of a tier-0 real-time tax calculation platform.
• Ensure accurate tax calculation, reporting, and remittance across business lines, verticals, and jurisdictions.
• Solve complex engineering problems involving distributed systems, financial accuracy, and regulatory compliance.
• Build and lead a high-performing engineering team through mentorship and career development.
• Partner with Strategy & Operations, Tax, Finance, Legal, Product, and business stakeholders.
• Improve platform reliability and tax accuracy with measurable business impact.

Requirements

• 8+ years of software engineering experience.
• At least 2 years of experience in an engineering management role leading product or platform teams.
• Experience building and operating high-scale, high-reliability distributed systems.
• Strong technical judgment across system reliability, developer velocity, and product needs.
• Passion for mentoring engineers and building inclusive, collaborative teams.
• Ability to drive clarity across ambiguous, cross-functional engineering, finance, legal, product, and business problems.
