TL;DR
Manager, Social Media (EdTech): Developing and executing D2L’s global organic social media strategy, employee advocacy program, and executive social presence with an accent on brand awareness, audience engagement, and integrated marketing campaigns. Focus on leading a Social Media Specialist, building governance and analytics frameworks, managing communities and crises, and optimizing channel performance through emerging technologies and AI-enabled opportunities.

Location: Kitchener, Ontario or Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Salary: CAD 98,000–105,000 annual base salary

What you will do

  • Own the global organic social media strategy, editorial calendar, channel roadmap, and corporate social channels.
  • Lead social campaigns for events, product launches, corporate announcements, and integrated marketing initiatives.
  • Manage and develop the Social Media Specialist through coaching, goal setting, performance management, and career development.
  • Lead the employee advocacy program and executive social media strategy to amplify thought leadership and corporate messaging.
  • Partner with Brand, Product Marketing, Corporate Communications, Demand Generation, Regional Marketing, and People & Culture teams.
  • Manage the social media budget, governance, community engagement, crisis communications, analytics, reporting, and performance optimization.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in social media or a related field, including backgrounds in public relations, content writing, or graphic design.
  • Experience leading teams and cross-functional initiatives with strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong marketing knowledge, including demand generation, SEO principles, social media analytics, and channel best practices.
  • Proficiency with social media platforms and publishing or monitoring tools such as Hootsuite or Sprout Social.
  • Experience creating presentations and visual content using MS Office and Adobe Suite, including Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign.
  • A bachelor’s degree in communications, English, journalism, or a related field is preferred.

  • Experience with CoSchedule.
  • Experience with blogging and a wide variety of social media channels.
  • Early adoption of new technologies and familiarity with AI-enabled opportunities.
