Senior Software Engineer (AI)

Location: US remote eligible; must live in a state where Airbnb, Inc. has a registered entity. Occasional work at an Airbnb office or attendance at offsites may be required as agreed with the manager.

Salary: $195,000–$220,000 USD annually, with possible bonus, equity, benefits, and Employee Travel Credits.

What you will do

• Build products and features for global community support agents in collaboration with product, design, and engineering teams.
• Lead the full development cycle, including technical design, development, test automation, experimentation, analysis, and launch.
• Build efficient, reusable frontend web components with strong performance and scalability.
• Design and implement server-side APIs and define the separation of client and server responsibilities.
• Collaborate with Machine Learning and Generative AI Engineers to improve community support systems.
• Contribute to technical direction through design discussions, code reviews, and design-document reviews.

Requirements

• 6+ years of industry experience and a bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, or equivalent experience.
• Experience architecting frontend systems, owning end-to-end features, and managing cross-team integrations.
• Experience building large web applications with JavaScript and TypeScript, including modern libraries and tooling such as React and GraphQL.
• Fluency in HTML, CSS, and related web technologies, with demonstrated expertise in accessibility, performance optimization, and scalable client practices.
• Experience building interfaces for classical machine-learning and Generative AI features.
• Proficiency in Java or Kotlin and experience mentoring junior developers.
