Senior Managing Counsel (Fintech)

Location: Miami, Florida, United States; at least 3 days per week in the office. The role reports to leadership in Miami and San Francisco. International travel of 5–10% may be required.

Salary: $185,000–$296,100 USD per year, with potential bonus, equity, and sales incentive payments where applicable.

What you will do

• Lead the legal team supporting Central America and Caribbean operations and serve on the regional leadership team.
• Advise business leaders on legal, regulatory, and strategic matters.
• Identify legal and regulatory risks, escalate roadblocks, develop solutions, and support implementation.
• Draft, review, and negotiate complex commercial, technology, sponsorship, consultancy, contractor, and confidentiality agreements.
• Develop legal templates and adapt U.S. documents to local market requirements.
• Partner with sales, product, marketing, compliance, and regional teams on product and service launches.

Requirements

• At least 12 years of relevant legal experience.
• Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school.
• Current membership in good standing of a U.S. state bar, with the ability to become barred or register as in-house counsel in the state where the role is located.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in Spanish and English.
• Experience with complex commercial and regulatory matters, legal risk analysis, negotiation, and strategic business advising.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet tight deadlines, and collaborate across a matrixed multinational organization.

Nice to have

• 15 or more years of experience as in-house counsel at a multinational company or with a large law firm.
• Experience in payments or fintech and engagement with financial or competition regulators.
• Strong understanding of electronic payments and Central America and Caribbean regulations.
