Mechanical Design Engineer (Tooling Design Focus)

Salary: $110,000–$175,000 base pay annually, plus potential discretionary bonuses and equity.

What you will do

• Lead the end-to-end design, development, and validation of custom tooling, test fixtures, and jigs for new product introduction and high-volume electronics manufacturing.
• Translate mechanical and process requirements into CAD models, detailed drawings, bills of materials, engineering change orders, and revision documentation.
• Participate in design reviews and provide design-for-manufacturing and design-for-test feedback for new products.
• Select manufacturing processes such as CNC machining, injection molding, sheet metal, and coatings for tooling applications.
• Perform tolerance stack-up analysis and support prototyping, tool release, and pilot builds with overseas contract manufacturers and vendors.
• Research manufacturing technologies and improve tooling quality and cost effectiveness.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 5+ years of experience as a Mechanical Design Engineer with strong DFM expertise for prototype and production environments.
• 1–3 years of hands-on experience scaling liquid cooling thermal solutions, including cold plates, fittings, tubing, leak detection, CDUs, and AALCs.
• Working knowledge of PLM and ECO, MCO, DEV, and PCN processes.
• Experience debugging electromechanical systems, performing failure and root cause analysis, and applying structured problem-solving methods such as 8D.
• Leadership, mentoring, problem-solving, cross-functional collaboration, and communication skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with Agile PLM or Windchill PDMLink.
