TL;DR
Senior NDE Level II Technician (Aerospace): Performing non-destructive evaluation and weld inspection of solid rocket motor systems and other flight-critical aerospace hardware with an accent on digital radiography, computed tomography, phased array ultrasonic testing, magnetic particle testing, and visual inspection. Focus on interpreting Level II inspection results, documenting nonconformances, maintaining equipment calibration, and supporting root-cause investigations and continuous improvement in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Location: Onsite at the Torrance, California facility, United States. Must be able to travel up to 30%, work extended hours or weekends as needed, and lift more than 50 pounds. ITAR eligibility is required: U.S. citizen or national, lawful permanent resident, refugee, asylee, or eligible to obtain the required U.S. Department of State authorizations.

What you will do

  • Perform in-process, final, and post-fabrication inspections of aerospace components, assemblies, welds, and flight-critical hardware.
  • Conduct Digital Radiography, Computed Tomography, Phased Array Ultrasonic Testing, Magnetic Particle Testing, and Visual Testing/Weld Inspection.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, weld symbols, specifications, procedures, and acceptance or rejection criteria.
  • Set up, standardize, verify, operate, and maintain NDE and inspection equipment within Level II qualification scope.
  • Document findings, maintain traceability and quality records, and communicate nonconforming conditions to Level III, Quality, Engineering, Welding, and Manufacturing personnel.
  • Support technical issue resolution, root-cause investigations, corrective actions, process development, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED; technical, vocational, or trade school education is preferred.
  • At least 3 years of hands-on NDE inspection experience, preferably in aerospace, defense, aviation, or another highly regulated manufacturing environment.
  • Current or previous Level II qualification or certification in one or more of Digital Radiography, Computed Tomography, PAUT, Magnetic Particle Testing, or Visual Testing/Weld Inspection.
  • Experience with weld inspection, welding processes, weld discontinuities, inspection equipment, precision measurement tools, borescopes, and weld gauges.
  • Ability to independently evaluate inspection results within Level II authority and maintain accurate inspection documentation and product traceability.
  • Must meet applicable vision examination and NDE certification requirements.
