ETL Developer / Data Engineer

Location: Reston, Virginia, United States; hybrid work with attendance at the Reston office at least once per week. During initial ramp-up, office attendance is approximately 2–3 days per week. Occasional travel to conferences or other hirify.global locations may be required.

Salary: $81,147–$137,949 per year

What you will do

• Develop and support data integration solutions across utility and energy client projects.
• Build ETL solutions using SSIS and SQL based on requirements and solution designs.
• Collaborate with business analysts, senior developers, architects, and other project stakeholders.
• Monitor data pipeline executions for anomalies and troubleshoot issues caused by bad data.
• Apply development frameworks and best practices to deliver solutions efficiently and at scale.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a similar field.
• At least 2 years of experience working with SQL, including query tuning, procedures, functions, and views.
• At least 1 year of experience developing and optimizing SSIS packages for flexibility and standardization.
• Ability to work from the Reston, Virginia office at least once per week after ramp-up, with 2–3 days per week initially.
• Willingness to participate in periodic drug testing and background checks.

Nice to have

• Experience with parameterized SSIS packages in project solutions using standard SDLC practices.
• Experience consuming APIs as data sources or destinations.
• Critical thinking and ability to question and clarify requirements.
• Exposure to utility, energy, or energy-efficiency sectors.
