Product Director, Lab Systems (AI)

Location: Chicago, Illinois, United States

Salary: $170,000–$220,000 annually for roles performed from Illinois; ranges may vary for California, Colorado, and New York.

What you will do

• Own the product vision and strategy for integrated lab platforms used across multiple locations.
• Drive AI-enabled and agentic-first workflows where appropriate for clinical laboratory operations.
• Lead, manage, and coach a team of Product Managers.
• Partner with laboratory leadership and operations teams to co-design software for varied physical lab environments.
• Communicate product strategy, technical challenges, and operational trade-offs to senior executives.
• Collaborate with product leadership to improve development practices and technical excellence.

Requirements

• 8+ years of technical software product management experience in technology or biotech.
• 4+ years of experience managing and coaching Product Managers.
• Experience applying AI/ML and agentic workflows to complex operational problems.
• Experience leading high-scale enterprise workflow systems such as LIMS, ERP, or asset management platforms.
• Strong systems thinking, strategic synthesis, influence, and collaboration skills.
• Experience in regulated environments such as CLIA, CAP, or FDA settings and a strong understanding of laboratory workflows.
