TL;DR
Virtual Hardware Model Engineer (MATLAB/Simulink): Developing high-fidelity component plant models that emulate the electrical, mechanical, physics, and software interfaces of vehicle hardware with an accent on model parameterization, validation, and co-simulation integration. Focus on building FMU-ready models, correlating simulations with physical test data, and exploring fault and edge-case behavior before hardware is available.

Location: Warren, Michigan, United States; hybrid work with reporting to the location at least 3 times per week

Company

hirify.global develops vehicles and mobility technologies focused on safer, smarter, more connected transportation, including hardware, battery systems, software, safety, and entertainment features.

What you will do

  • Develop high-fidelity component plant models in MATLAB/Simulink that emulate electrical, mechanical, physics, and software interfaces of vehicle hardware components.
  • Collaborate with technical specialists, development engineers, virtual teams, suppliers, and simulation teams to translate hardware designs, control strategies, and boundary conditions into modeling requirements.
  • Implement models for GM co-simulation environments, including FMU export, correct I/O definitions, signal naming, and execution behavior.
  • Parameterize, correlate, and improve model fidelity using supplier specifications, design data, and physical test, bench, and vehicle results.
  • Integrate component models into system- and vehicle-level co-simulation environments and use them for virtual testing, what-if studies, and fault or edge-case analysis.
  • Document modeling assumptions, limitations, calibration parameters, validation results, requirements, test needs, and deliverables; contribute to modeling standards, libraries, and best practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, mathematics, physics, computer science, or a related field.
  • At least 2 years of experience in product development, systems engineering, or software/hardware connectivity.
  • Proficiency with MATLAB/Simulink or similar code-based model-based simulation software.
  • Experience or ability to translate physical phenomena into mathematical and Simulink models, including electrical, mechanical, and software I/O.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and lead or direct work.
  • Ability to work in a hybrid arrangement from Warren, Michigan, with attendance at the assigned location at least 3 times per week.

Culture & Benefits

  • Work within a cross-functional environment spanning product development, systems, software, virtual engineering, simulation integration, architecture teams, and suppliers.
  • Contribute to technologies supporting safer, smarter, and more connected vehicles.
  • Benefits support employee well-being at work and at home.
  • Relocation benefits may be available for eligible candidates.
  • Inclusive workplace with equal employment opportunities and reasonable accommodation support.

Hiring process

  • A role-related assessment and pre-employment screening may be required where applicable.
