Project Engineer II - Design (Automotive)

Location: Offsite in Michigan, US; applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States. Visa sponsorship is not available.

What you will do

• Plan personal and team workflows to deliver engineering activities on schedule with minimal supervision.
• Lead technical studies, specification writing, technical planning, design reviews, and project sign-offs.
• Develop 3D and 2D CAD designs for vehicle components and assemblies.
• Own system engineering activities, including architecture, interface definition, design constraint resolution, DFMEA, DVP&R, and BOM input.
• Coordinate analysis and other cross-functional inputs, supplier negotiations, and lead-time planning.
• Author single-team proposals and provide engineering leadership to project teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Design or a related field; a master’s degree is preferred.
• 3–5+ years of experience in the relevant engineering area.
• Strong knowledge of multiple engine systems design or manufacturing areas, such as air system design, block/crankcase design, or foundry practice.
• Proficiency in at least one major 3D CAD system; Siemens NX is preferred.
• Proficiency with PDM software; Teamcenter is preferred.
• Experience with P-diagrams, boundary diagrams, DFMEA, DVP&R, supplier negotiations, CAE tools, customer delivery, technical communication, and team leadership.
