Senior Mission Formulation Lead (RF/Comms)

Location: Washington, D.C.; Northern Virginia; or Aurora, Colorado, United States

Salary: $169,000–$194,000 per year, plus equity and benefits

What you will do

• Lead mission formulation contracts and cross-functional teams delivering mission concepts in RF and communications.
• Lead strategic capture campaigns for high-value government and commercial mission opportunities.
• Drive programs from early customer engagement and formulation through design concepts, experiments, and mission delivery.
• Serve as Principal Investigator for early-stage R&D activities and proposals.
• Create technical proposals, white papers, concept studies, and R&D roadmaps.
• Conduct feasibility, literature, and trade studies while translating customer needs into technical requirements and solutions.

Requirements

• B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. in physics, engineering, remote sensing, computer science, or a related technical or scientific field.
• At least 5 years of experience in RF remote sensing or communications missions in technical or programmatic leadership roles.
• Strong first-principles reasoning and the ability to decompose high-level mission objectives into technical concepts and solutions.
• Experience with passive or active RF payload phenomenology and RF/communications space missions across government and commercial markets.
• Strong written, verbal, and cross-disciplinary communication skills.
• Existing TS/SCI clearance or the ability to obtain and maintain it; access to export-controlled information requires U.S. person status, an applicable authorization exemption, or eligibility and reasonable likelihood of obtaining export authorization.

Nice to have

• Programming proficiency in Python, MATLAB, or Julia for space mission analysis and remote sensing concept development.
• Experience with early-stage business development, customer discovery, strategic planning, roadmapping, or scenario planning.
• Familiarity with space systems development, especially satellite remote sensing.
