Senior Virtual Hardware Model Engineer (MATLAB/Simulink)

Location: Warren, Michigan, United States; hybrid attendance at least 3 times per week

What you will do

• Develop high-fidelity MATLAB/Simulink plant models that emulate the electrical, mechanical, physics, and software interfaces of vehicle hardware components.
• Translate hardware designs, control strategies, supplier specifications, and boundary conditions into modeling requirements.
• Implement component models for GM co-simulation environments, including FMU export, I/O definitions, signal naming, and execution behavior.
• Parameterize, correlate, and improve model fidelity using design data, physical tests, bench results, and vehicle results.
• Integrate component plant models into system- and vehicle-level co-simulation environments and use them for virtual testing, what-if studies, and fault analysis.
• Define modeling architecture, fidelity, correlation, validation, documentation, and standardization practices across multiple component domains while mentoring peers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, mathematics, physics, computer science, or a related field.
• At least 5 years of experience in product development, systems engineering, or software/hardware connectivity.
• Proficiency with MATLAB/Simulink or comparable code-based model-based simulation software.
• Experience developing complex multi-domain models covering coupled electrical, mechanical, and software behavior.
• Experience delivering models into SIL, HIL, or co-simulation workflows and validating them against physical data.
• Strong communication, collaboration, planning, multitasking, and technical leadership skills, including the ability to direct others.
