What you will do

• Lead enterprise multi-modal data architecture integrating clinical EHR records, high-throughput genomics (NGS), and cardiovascular imaging (Echo, Cath, ECG).
• Architect data solutions that scale across federated hospital networks with multi-tenancy, high availability, and performance across hybrid cloud environments.
• Design agent-ready data access patterns and metadata layers so AI agents can autonomously discover, query, and reason over structured and unstructured datasets.
• Own schema and interfaces by authoring and maintaining ERDs, data dictionaries, and API specifications across relational, NoSQL, and vector databases.
• Implement automated data quality monitoring and lineage with strict traceability back to source systems to support “ground truth” for agentic evaluations.
• Advocate for data modeling standards, governance, and best practices with engineering and clinical stakeholders in a HIPAA-regulated environment.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Health Informatics, or a related field.
• 7+ years of experience in data architecture or enterprise modeling, with significant experience in healthcare or life sciences.
• Expert-level knowledge of 3NF, Dimensional (Star Schema), and Data Vault 2.0 modeling techniques.
• Advanced SQL skills for complex analytical environments and proficiency in Python for data profiling and debugging.
• Ability to articulate trade-offs between RDBMS, MPP, and NoSQL, plus experience implementing Master Data Management (MDM) solutions.
• Deep familiarity with HL7, FHIR, and Epic/Cerner data structures.

Nice to have

• Experience with vector databases (e.g., Pinecone, Weaviate, pgvector) or graph databases for RAG and agentic memory.
• Hands-on cloud architecture experience with GCP (BigQuery, Vertex AI) or AWS healthcare-native services.
• Direct experience with EHR, OMOP, DICOM, genomic data models, or longitudinal patient records.

• Full range of benefits, which may include incentive compensation and restricted stock units, plus medical and other benefits depending on the position.
• Salary range: $140,000–$190,000 (Chicago), with location-based variation for other listed locations.
