Salary: $170,000–$200,000 USD

What you will do

• Own and document cloud data architecture across a multi-cloud environment, primarily using Azure and Azure Databricks.
• Lead data architecture modernization, including migration strategy, data modeling, and platform engineering.
• Design governance, security, and compliance strategies for sensitive Veteran PII and PHI.
• Enable data science and AI/ML capabilities through model deployment infrastructure and data pipelines.
• Collaborate with data engineers, analysts, VA stakeholders, and government teams to deliver secure, scalable data products.
• Support data ingestion, data curation, interoperability, and technical architecture documentation across disparate VA systems.

Requirements

• Proven experience designing and managing enterprise cloud data architectures in Azure.
• Hands-on experience with Azure Databricks for data engineering, analytics, and AI/ML workloads.
• Experience with Power BI or similar visualization platforms and large-scale data migration.
• Strong knowledge of data governance, security compliance, FISMA, NIST 800-53, and federal data standards.
• Bachelor’s degree and ability to produce clear, detailed technical architecture documentation.
• U.S. work authorization is required; U.S. citizenship and federal background investigation or security clearance may be required for certain roles.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with AWS data services in a multi-cloud environment.
• Experience working in Agile teams across engineering, product, and government stakeholder groups.
