Data Center Operations Specialist

What you will do

• Continuously monitor data center operations and HVAC performance to maintain optimal thermal environments.
• Perform preventative maintenance on mechanical and electrical systems; manage contractors for deep-service tasks.
• Diagnose and repair fiber network infrastructure and server hardware issues.
• Quickly identify and repair critical system failures to minimize downtime.
• Assist in writing technical SOPs and MOPs for maintenance activities.
• Manage contractor services and maintain vendor relationships.
• Participate in on-call rotation for emergency response and maintenance notifications.

Requirements

• Location: Must be based onsite in Sunnyvale, CA, United States
• Proficient knowledge of IT systems, network infrastructure, and data center electrical/mechanical systems.
• Experience with transformers, PLCs, generators, switchgear, UPS, STS, ATS, PDUs, chilled water, and fire suppression systems.
• Expertise in industrial safety practices including Lockout/Tagout, Arc Flash protection (NFPA 70E), and OSHA regulations.
• Strong hands-on background with computer/network gear and support infrastructure (HVAC, electrical).
• Participation in drug and alcohol program due to safety-sensitive position designation.

Nice to have

• Experience in mission-critical environments such as data centers, hospitals, or power plants.
• Certifications like CompTIA Network+, BICSI, or specialized electrical/HVAC licenses.
• Experience with industrial control systems and PLC programming.
